How I studied for 10 hours...OVERNIGHT!
I hope you all are staying safe during this crazy time. COVID-19 has had a HUGE impact on all of our lives. For almost a month now we are forced to acclimate to a life that we didn't know could even be possible.
COVID-19 belongs to the coronavirus family. It is a virus that causes upper respiratory infections. Symptoms include; fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, some people lose some sense of taste. It spreads via human contact when a person sneezes or coughs. Small droplets are released into the air and if a person is too close they may land on their mouths or noses and then it makes its way into the infected persons lungs. Because of this horrible virus we have been mandated to stay home unless it is essential travel (grocery store, pharmacy etc) and when we do go out we must stay at a 6ft distance.
Some coronavirus humor π
Well, now that we got that cleared!..... Staying home everyday and not having to go to school or work has been somewhat difficult. At the beginning (3 weeks!) it was hard to get a schedule down especially because I had to homeschool my children and make sure every single assignment for both of them were completed. I also had to attend chemistry class via Zoom 2x a week. π
Being home 24/7 definitely disturbs your sleep schedule, it seems like everyone I know has been having some sort of insomnia due to the numerous naps taken every day π. All of this lead to my 10-hour OVERNIGHT study session from last night! It all started this past Friday, I couldn't get myself to sleep until 4am. Saturday I woke up at 11am and took a nap around 3-4p that lasted until 7pm. That's when I realized, I just might as well plan to stay up and catch up on some MUCH needed study time. I ordered some food and had a cup of soda. I knew the caffeine would help keep me up instead of falling asleep midway (It's 10am and I'm still up so I guess it workedπ).
I started to study at about 10pm. I put on America Revere's Study with me video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9ssyfF7_0k&t=9038s and some background music https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOxqgCwgOqC2lMqC5PYz_Dg and went about my merry way. Right now I'm only taking General Chemistry II, however, even with just one class it can get overwhelming (especially with trying to learn chemistry online).
I normally have a To-Do List and I list all of my assignments that absolutely have to get done right away, if i am overwhelmed then I number them from most important to least. This helps me stay organized and allows me to hand in my assignments on time.
I definitely have to have some breaks in between too. I stopped a few times to look at my phone, get another cup of soda and have a bathroom break. At some point I also changed the music to my Hip-Hop & R&B playlist. At about 6am I took a shower, got dressed and did whatever dishes were in the sink and then continued to study until 9am.
Not being tired really helps, when you're tired your brain doesn't retain information and you end up studying and wasting time. I wouldn't normally pull an all nighter unless I can't sleep. All nighters never really happen for me thats why this was such an achievement for me LOL!
Thanks for reading!
